Day one: Chicago

Blake here.

Simply stated, today has been nothing short of awesome and borderline surreal. I mean it’s Tuesday for God’s sake. Tuesdays are synonymous with ‘office’ and ‘work.’

But not on this Tuesday.

On this Tuesday, I woke up a few blocks away from Wrigley Field. An hour later, Tony, his boy “BC” and myself enjoyed some Irish fare at a local pub. We then took the “L” downtown… after a glimpse of and a few blocks of the Magnificent Mile, we found ourselves in the Hancock Building on an elevator going up 96 floors to The Signature Lounge. The view up there is nothing short of breathtaking and spectacular… especially on a beautiful, blue-skies as far as the eye can see, day like today. Two mojitos, a Grey Goose & tonic, and about an hour later, we decided to walk along Lake Michigan and see where the day would take us.

Castaway’s Bar and Grill – Hello to tempting twenty something’s in bikinis, DJ-ed music, hundreds of scantily-clad beach babies, and 16 ounce Bud heavy’s. Two particular young lasses captured the attention of us male folk by dancing with other and getting – to put it lightly – very friendly with each other. During this entire two plus hour period, it was hard not to smile. Life is good, we acknowledged… as we raised our drinks in a cheers and enjoyed the good life.

The cab ride back to Wrigleyville was one for the ages. Dude was CLASSIC! I won’t repeat the cabbie’s story (our parents and extended family are reading this), but if you want to hear it, feel free to contact us via email or cell phone and we’ll be MORE than happy to share!

It’s 6:00 p.m. and we have the whole night ahead of us. Tomorrow is July 4, as Tony and I will celebrate our independence with a trek to St. Louis for a baseball game then begin heading west for the Grand Canyon.

I LOVE CHICAGO!

Tony's post, and pictures... later tonight.
