If you're thinking to yourself, "Wait, I didn't know you guys included Vegas as part of this roadtrip," you're right. We didn't.
But we ended up going there anyway, based on ridiculous events that took place at a gas station in Western Arizona.

I call theft. Blake stole the coin flip at a major roadtrip intersection from the 1998 "Destination: America" trip I co-led for 8,000 miles.
Kirk, exchange student at the time from Denmark, desperately wanted to go to the US/Mexico border to 'raft' or something...but we flipped a coin outside of the RV at an intersection. One side was south to the border; the other was a right to head into New Mexico. New Mexico won. Kirk didn't speak for 2 days. And now his legacy is being threatened by Blake.
Somebody owes Kirk an apology. Perhaps a roadtrip to Denmark next year. You can tell Kirk that you're sorry.
Personally, I'd have over-ruled and gone to San Diego.
